Measuring Cyber Risk in the Financial Services Sector

The Federal Reserve Board of Governors, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and the Internet Policy Research Initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are hosting the second Conference on Measuring Cyber Risk in the Financial Services Sector, which will convene experts from industry, government and academia to discuss efforts to measure and track cyber risk across the financial system.

During the two-day hybrid (in-person and virtual) conference, keynote speakers and panelists will review advances made in developing a comprehensive set of cyber metrics and discuss the challenges that remain in today’s rapidly evolving threat landscape. Topics include risk metrics and predictive statistics, threat analysis and scenario development, the relationship of these methods to operational resilience and financial stability, managing cyber risk from the c-suite, and challenges for the future.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Arthur Lindo, deputy director for policy in supervision, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System
  • Vinod Vaikuntanathan, cryptographer and professor of computer science, MIT
  • James Wiener, partner and vice chair, Oliver Wyman
